Hot Springs Island-Session 2: Elemental Shenanigans

The Explanation On Why This Session Report Is Late

College has been hectic lately, in a good way. I have had a lot of responsibility added to my plate, so I haven’t had much free time yet. That's why this session report is late, and it’s also why one of my players, Lemon. Helped write the session report from the perspective of their PC Secundus.

This Session's Cast

In this session all the players from the previous game returned, additionally, we were joined by a new player: Christian. We ended up with the following rooster of characters:
Tony Tuna (deceased), a level 2 Halfling Wizard (AC 6 | HP 8), played by Nic.
Roc, a level 1 Human Fighter (AC 14 | HP 7), played by Nic.
Heiter, a level 1 Human Preist (AC 11 | HP 5), played by Jaron.
Secundus, a level 2 Human Thief (AC 16 | HP 5), also played by Lemon.
Greg, a level 1 Human Theif (AC 14 | HP 3), played by Nic.

A Downtime Recap

Esien was heavily injured during the last session & thus remained at the pirate port of Siren's Folly during this session, where he continued healing. While Tony Tuna Studied his spells back at the pirate port. Meanwhile, Secundus spent the week camped out within the Temple of Tranquility. A former Temple then an Aquarium which was converted into a gambling den by the Steam Imp known as ‘The House’.

During this time Secundus taught poker to the patrons of the Temple of Tranquility (the Tranq Tank for short), winning every game in the process, & drawing the curiosity of ‘The House’. All while being dared to journey onto the second floor, by Steam Imp patrons of The Tranq Tank.

Secundus's Session Report

February 23nd, Sometime around 1600

Geo, an Imp-like creature carved from rock, walked in a couple of hours ago. He's quite the chatterbox, which has annoyed pretty much everyone else here. The only moment of peace & quiet anyone around here gets is when he takes one of his many daily naps. I just overheard some of the Imp-like Steam Creatures, talking about night being karaoke night, a favorite of the House. The elementals within this strange Temple/Aquarium/Gambling Den never need to sleep.

February 23rd, Sometime around 0200

Well, Karaoke Night has pretty much died down. ‘Goop ", an Imp-like creature composed of gelatinous ooze, was forcibly sent to the lower levels after a laughable performance. It should’ve been a warning – to never get up on that stage. But I gave way to the peer pressure and jeers of the Imps.

I opened with the comedic number "Killing Me Roughly". A tale of an insect woman with a unique appetite for her mates. The song pleased the crowd enough that they didn’t send me to the lower levels. BUT, they didn't call for an encore either. They were mightily enamored.

February 24th, Sometime around 1000

I'm still at the ‘Tranq Tank’. Somehow, I haven't grown bored of this place. Apparently, a creature known as the ‘Albino Centipede’ lives somewhere on the levels below. For the past week, the strange Imp-like creatures who call this place home have tried to bait me into venturing onto the lower levels. That is until they noticed that the creature seems to have fallen into a deep slumber, one they’ve failed to rouse it from.
This hasn’t stopped three bothersome Steamy Imp-like creatures: Cloudly, Puff, and Vay-pour from betting on whether I'll eventually accept their dare to camp out on the second floor.

February 24th, Sometime around 1200

Eventually, I interrupted Cloudy, Puff, and Vay-pour’s betting and tried to get some free drinks out of their little wager. Five strange-looking lizards who glowed like the embers in a hot fire arrived. The air simmered around their scales. I think they owed a debt to one of the Steamy Imp-like Creatures, as they dumped a bag of loot on the table, interpreting our negotiations.
Whatever their debt was, the loot failed to impress Cloudy, who dismissed them. The lizards sulked off to the gambling den, eyeballing me as they left. Negotiations resumed, and I declined their bet, causing them to leave and wager with someone else.

February 24th, Sometime around 1400

An excited murmur has bounced around the Patrons of the ‘Tranq Tank’, something about a "Bird Race". Everyone seems to be headed upstairs, and outside. Just before I left with the crowd, I noticed the Steamy Imps accepting the loot from the Hot Lizards.
Above ground, I found a variety of Imp-like creatures crowding around a Track made of rock and dust. At the end of the race, I noticed the Hot Lizards won their loot back from the Steamy Imps. One item caught my eye, a mithril tank top.

February 24th, Sometime around 1800

At the beginning of the race, I spotted a group of Humans, and a familiar Halfling Wizard among them. One of their number, a fellow Thief, who went by the name Greg, approached me. He asked me if I would join the group, I didn’t like the looks of that Wizard. But I accepted anyway. Then that Goop fellow finally crawled his way back up to the first floor. He tried interrupting our chat but, Greg told him to “Fuck Off”.

After that, Greg became enamored with the Rocky Imp-like creature Geo, and his promises to “guide him to a city made of Gold”. Before the group left for these ruins, I convinced them to join me in gambling with the lizards to obtain the tank top. We ended up winning more than just the tanktop. We also won a Pick Pocket’s Hand (which I kept), 2 Steamy Imp ‘slaves’ & a pouch of Red Dust.

During the gambling that crazy Wizard Tony Tuna tried casting some heat based spell on the Lizards, which had no effect. After laughing, they killed him with a flick of his tail. Greg was unsuccessful in stopping the lizards from taking Tony’s body, for food. But he was allowed to retrieve Tony’s belongings from the corpse.

February 25th, Sometime around 0800

The group decided to camp for the night in the ‘Tranq Tank’. A brute of a human name Roc ended up wandering this morning. The House almost tricked Roc into venturing down unto the lower levels to fight the Albino Centipede. But Greg decided to save him for some reason. He let the idiot know He was being cheated. So now there’s another stranger joining us on this excursion to what I assume is that ancient Elven City.

February 25th, Sometime around 1200

As we ventured closer to the cityI spent some time in last week, Our party noticed six pillars of smoke looming in the distance. We decided to investigate one to the north of the city’s crumbling wall, Where we found five Martel Marines circling around an open fire. Feeling a pang of concern that they might try to arrest & brand me, I discreetly hide myself from their sight.
The Marines appeared to be in distress, as they recounted the tale of how their ship fell victim to an attack by Joomevsi, a colossal golden crab. From a distance I saw Greg trade in his two steam imps with the Marines, but I’m not sure what he got in return, as all he was handed was a folded up piece of parchment.

February 26th, Sometime around 0600

The others bought themselves passage back to wherever it is that the Martel has set up camp. As for myself, I’m headed back to the ‘Tranq Tank’. I know it’s safe there.

February 26th, Sometime around 1200

On my way back to the ‘Tranq Tank’, I encountered a large, human-sized snake with the head of a man. The snake addressed me as "little one" & questioned me as it slowly approached. Sensing danger, I edged backward toward the beach, hoping to use it as an escape route. The snake managed to coerce me into relinquishing my weapons before I swiftly lit a torch.

Uncomfortable with the flames, the snake retreated, sizing me up before disappearing into the jungle.

Tallying XP and Treasure

I forgot to tally this up... Sad.
